Sheriland "Sherry" Eileen (Kammer) Smith, 72, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Born on June 17, 1944, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Alberta (Lipp) Kammer. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where she served as the church secretary for many years, retiring in 2010. Before serving St. Paul's, she was the office manager at Goeglein's Catering. Sherry loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sheriland "Sherry" Eileen (Kammer) Smith, 72, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Born on June 17, 1944, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Alberta (Lipp) Kammer. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where she served as the church secretary for many years, retiring in 2010. Before serving St. Paul's, she was the office manager at Goeglein's Catering. Sherry loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was the preferred babysitter, holiday event planner and the most loyal of supporters at the grandkids' sporting events, plays and concerts. Sherry also enjoyed vacationing and day-trips with Jerry, her husband of 52 years.
She is survived by her sons, David (Mary) Smith, Paul (Andrea) Smith and Daniel (Janet) Smith, all of Fort Wayne: eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Jacob, Alexander, Kelton, Isabelle, Natalie, Owen and Cooper; and brother Ronald (Sue) Kammer of Estero, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, brother, Steven Kammer and loving step-father Harold Koenig.
Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, May 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Friday, May 19, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne.
